INTRODUCTION: Bileaflet mitral valve alight (BiMVP) is accepted amid survivors of contrarily alien abrupt cardiac death, but anxiety implications of BiMVP are unknown. This abstraction evaluated whether patients with BiMVP are at college accident for ventricular dysrhythmias, ICD placement, or afterlife compared to controls with either single-leaflet mitral valve alight (SiMVP) or no mitral valve alight (MVP).
METHODS AND RESULTS: This retrospective, akin accomplice abstraction included 18,786 patients who underwent echocardiography at Mayo Clinic amid June 1990 and September 2014. The abstraction included three cohorts: BiMVP, SiMVP, and controls after MVP. We adjourned ante of ventricular dysrhythmias, ICD placement, and all-cause bloodshed amid groups. BiMVP was associated with college ante of ventricular tachycardia compared to SiMVP and controls (adjusted HR 1.48 [1.14-1.92], P = 0.003 and 1.40 [1.04-1.88], P = 0.026, respectively); however, there were no statistically cogent differences in ante of ventricular fibrillation/cardiac arrest or ICD adjustment amid groups. BiMVP was associated with a lower amount of all-cause bloodshed compared to SiMVP and controls (adjusted HR 0.86 [0.79-0.94], P = 0.0008, and 0.55 [0.50-0.60], P < 0.0001, respectively).
CONCLUSION: Although BiMVP is associated with ventricular tachycardia, it is not associated with an added accident of cardiac arrest/ventricular fibrillation or ICD article and is, paradoxically, associated with a bigger adaptation compared to SiMVP or akin controls. The allegation advance that, admitting its affiliation with ventricular tachycardia, BiMVP in the absence of added accident factors does not assume to adumbrate a poor cast at the citizenry level.
