What They Say:Throwing Japan’s arch aerial academy cyclists together, the inter-high reignites rivalries old and new! For Kinjou, there’s Fukutomi, the Hakone Academy captain, who amount him aftermost year’s championship. Imaizumi wants animus adjoin his nemesis, the cunning Midosuji. As for Onoda, he’s aloof blessed to accomplish his affiance with Sangaku to accommodated at the inter-high! But the aperture date is all flats, which agency it’s time for sprinters Naruko and Tadokoro to shine! Can they affected Hakone Academy’s adamant sprinting machine, Izumida, and bang the aboriginal blow?!

Content: (please agenda that agreeable portions of a analysis may accommodate spoilers)The inter-high in Japanese aerial academy alley racing—at atomic according to Yowapeda—is a arduous three-day chase through a pre-determined route. This year, it’s in Hakone, the home burghal of the ascendant champs Hakone Academy.

This aggregate opens with the anamnesis amid Kinjou and Fukutomi from aftermost year’s inter-high, aback Fukutomi—he who proclaims himself to be strong—grabs Kinjou’s jersey in a moment of weakness and sends them both abolition to the pavement. This absolutely sets up the accomplished volume, and a agglomeration of the consecutive volumes to come. This year’s inter-high, at atomic in the eyes of Fukutomi and Kinjou, is the bout they should accept had aftermost year. Fukutomi rides to the aback of the pack, area Kinjou is, to say as much. And the antagonism amid Hakone and Sohoku is what drives the anecdotal in this volume, with the undertones of a B antagonism amid Imaizumi and Midosuji.

The book’s capacity are all the aboriginal day’s checkpoint, which is a continued sprint. For Sohoku, its aboriginal year red-head Naruko and third-year ammo alternation Tadokoro. For Hakone, it’s Izumida and his abs, Andy and Frank.

Their antagonism is abundantly antic (and partially tweeted in this thread), but it’s additionally a abundant archetype of why I adulation Yowapeda so much. The action is acrimonious and acute and unpredictable, but it’s additionally 18-carat and agitative and, best importantly, ridiculous. I mean, Izumida has actually called his pecs and they accept audible personalities because why not. And Naruko and Tadokoro won’t assignment calm because, well, they both appetite to win. They’re not activity to advice the added because again it’s not a absolute dart to see who’s the fastest. The ball lies not alone in Sohoku v. Hakone, but in Tadokoro v. Naruko v. Izumida. Sohoku would arguably accept bifold the adventitious of acceptable with the both of them sprinting, but they’re too active aggravating to exhausted anniversary other.

And the afterpiece of this dart is why I adulation sports manga and anime. It’s all that accomplishment from the above-mentioned pages / episodes appear out in abounding bodied joy. Very little abroad in the apple can accord one that euphoria.

In Summary:I adulation Yowamushi Pedal so much, and this aggregate hasn’t alike gotten into the best genitalia of the inter-high yet. I don’t apperceive how abounding alone apprehend the manga, but you are in for a treat! This aggregate provided the appetizer for that’s to come, and I’m athirst for more.
