A Shopping I Will Go. A Shopping I Will Go. Hi Ho The Cherry O, A Shopping I Will Go! Pin It

I have been to Rite Aid every day since Friday. lol    And to think I didn’t see anything in the ads that sparked my interest this week at first.  lol

I went there Friday night with some of the ladies from the coupon class I taught. I wanted to show them coupons in the action so to speak and help the visual– hands-on learners in group.  Then Saturday I popped into a different one while out with the children to a museum (for the free day). Sunday found me at my usual RA getting a few things and then again on Monday and Tuesday (to help a friend from church and pick up a few more things (shown in photo below).

100_8560

  • total oop $4.72
  • total saved  $104.47

Wednesday found me at another RA. I had a RA trip photo to share for it but my camera ate it.  It was from my adventure to another store (a RA I had never been in too) at the request of my reg. store mgr to come and see if I could help them clear out some clearance with my coupons – I am not kidding. lol She and one of the asst. mgr from my reg. store would be there working on some things. – I love my RA and it’s employees! They are the BEST.  The store I went to seemed just as great though!  I was amazed. Just awesome customer service!  (can’t say that about another chaiI will tell you I found Pampers on clearance for $4.49, Starbucks coffee 75% off, some of the Oral B Vitality toothbrushes, pulsar toothbrushes, pringles, a pair of Foster Grant sunglasses (see that blog post) and a bunch other stuff.

  • total oop $10.85
  • total saved  $278.79

Today is Thursday and I have not gone to RA!  lol   But today is not over yet but I also think I may be done for the week at RA… maybe. just maybe.  and yep I ended up at Rite Aid quickly to go to the bathroom when I went to the bank and went down the oral care aisle and saw they had restocked on the Vitality Toothbrushes so picked up 3 of those and a few others  things.

  • I paid. $4.17
  • total saved: $66.28

So for the grand totals for the RA shopping this week (so far… lol Week isn’t over yet! lol)

  • Total oop: $26.34
  • Total saved:  $832.14

Bi-LO ….

Went after church last night and ended up shopping with a friend from church and sharing coupons with her so she could get some great deals too.   I love to share coupons with others when I can.  I amazed though at how many people (strangers) in the stores will not take a coupon for something.  On the other hand there are many who do take them and are appreciative.

100_8565

  • Total oop $14.36
  • Total saved: $235.07

So I ask you… Is couponing truly worth your (or my) time?

The answer is YES!

Rite Aid Will Price Match as long as you have a sales ad in hand! Pin It

Our  Rite Aid has been price matching for the last year or so (ever since that hateful Wags moved across the street).     I was told it was just this store but I found out today from the store manager that ALL Rite Aid stores will price match as long as you have the sales ad in hand!

She said it was company policy too but you get hateful employees who will not want to but they are supposed to as long as you have the sales ad in hand!

I had to refigure those as many of the receipts were just a mess from where we had issues.

I meant to get more of the cat food on sale but forgot it. Oh well. Maybe I’ll get to go back later this week (maybe Wed. after church) to see if they have any left.  Oldest dd kept her siblings so I could go around the corner to RA and she wanted me to pick her up medicine too.  I fed her supper as I spent way longer than I expected too but didn’t realize or know that I was going to run into issues with the P&G UP and a few other things that were beyond my control.   Thank you dd!! You saved my sanity a little bit anyway!

Free Avocado with this coupon (1 per store visit – expires 12/31/10) Pin It

Weekend Shopping Resulted in Big Savings Pin It

I took the children to the American Museum of Science & Energy on Saturday as part of The Free Day from the Smithsonian Museum.   Hubby had to work in the area too and was nearby as a carwash working on the landscaping. We stopped by to see him before we went to the museum and the carwash owner came out to talk to us and handed me a business card to scan that gave me a Free $12 car wash and a $3 vacuum.  Thank you!

Review: The Mysterious Islands: A Testimony to God's Hand in Creation (DVD) Pin It

My family recently had the opportunity to watch the The Mysterious Islands: A Testimony to God's Hand in Creation (DVD) and the company sent me an extra copy to give to a friend.

About the Movie:

The Mysterious Islands: A Testimony to God's Hand in Creation (DVD)

Get a glimpse of the adventure by watching the trailer and scenes below. And to experience the full adventure, pick up The Mysterious Islands at your favorite Christian store!

“The Mysterious Islands is by far the best creationist documentary about Darwin and the Galápagos available. While the cinematography is certainly outstanding, I appreciate the film’s strong biblical message most of all. This film is must-viewing and something for you to show others.” –Ken Ham, founder of Answers In Genesis and the acclaimed Creation Museum

“The Mysterious Islands is a powerful apologetic for God’s Hand in creation. I was amazed, not only at the beautiful cinematography, but also the solid arguments against evolution. Every family library needs a copy.”

Review: Book of Ruth (DVD) Pin It

My family received the opportunity to watch the Book of Ruth (DVD) from Pure Flix Entertainment.

Overall, I give this movie  3 stars as it is a really slow movie as far as the storyline goes. It is bible based but I think the company could have stepped it up a little to make it a little more interesting/intriguing to keep your attention and to keep you from yawning. It really only picked up toward the end of the movie.  Some camera angles were horrible the way they were shot into the sun.

About the Movie:

The Book of Ruth, is a triumphant love story in the face of adversity.
This selfless journey of love and devotion is seen through the eyes of a young widow. Upon reaching Bethlehem, she meets and marries a man named Boaz, who is of the Royal House of Judah. This chain of seemingly unrelated events, sets the stage for the future kings of the nation of Israel, and the glorious coming of the Messiah.

Review: Home Beyond the Sun (DVD) Pin It

My family received the opportunity to watch the Home Beyond the Sun (DVD) from Pure Flix Entertainment.

Albeit you could tell that this was a low-budget film, it still had a great storyline and message of Hope.

The storyline did seem to jump around from time to time but you could easily pick up the pieces and figure out what was going on.
Home_Beyond_the_Sun__med

This movie was inspired by a true story of an American teacher who travels half way around the world to find herself.  The story is heartwarming and awe-spiring of what can only be the hand of God in her life and that of an 8 year old Chinese Orphan that she finds friendship with.

Overall, I give this movie 3.5 stars.

Review: The Febreze NOTICEable Hawaiian Aloha Showdown with Glade Plugins Scented Oil Hawaiian Breeze Pin It

Febreze has to be one of my favorites when it comes to air fresheners. They offer a nice selection in wonderful scents.

They sent me the  Febreze NOTICEable Hawaiian Aloha to try out as part of the challenge against the Glade Plugins Scented Oil in Hawaiian Breeze to see if I notice a difference in 5 days, 10 days, and 30 days.

51De0mjgLzL._SL160_

I have to say that the Febreze NOTICEable Hawaiian Aloha seemed to last longer as far as the product wise, have a longer lasting scent, and just seemed to keep the room smelling fresher.

Word of caution:  These are great in medium to large rooms but overpower a small bathroom (found that out the hard way on the Glade one… too much for a small room).

The Febreze NOTICEable is a pluggable scented oil warmer that automatically alternates between two complimentary scents, eliminating odors and providing long-lasting freshness throughout the home for 30-days. The product also has two scent intensity setting to choose from (low and high) for your perfect level of freshness. (I highly recommend the low setting for a bathroom!)

Febreze  Scented Oil Plugin & Febreze NOTICEable are available at major retailers nationwide and is available in various scents.

Review: Febreze Set & Refresh Pin It

Recently, Febreze sent me this nice little package of goodies from their new line of air fresheners. Along with the new air freshener (Febreze Set & Refresh), they sent a package of paper napkins with the Febreze log, a recipe card, and a nice white, butcher-style kitchen apron tied up in a pretty blue bow.
100_8531

I’ve had the opportunity to try out the new air freshener and I LIKE IT!!

There’s no plugs required and no batteries required. You just set it and let it refresh your room. What could be easier than that?!

You just clip in the cartridge, pull the bottom to open and then sit on your kitchen counter, bathroom sink, or bedside table. It gives off a light scent that is great for small rooms such as a bathroom.

Febreze Set & Refresh is available at major retailers nationwide and is available in the following scents:

  • Linen & Sky (which is what I received)
  • Spring & Renewal
  • Meadows & rain
  • Hawaiian Aloha
  • Thai Dragon Fruit
  • Apple Spice & Delight (oh that sounds like a wonderful one for Fall!)

In support of the new product launch, Febreze has partnered with “Money Saving Meals” host Sandra less. As the quintessential hostess, Sandra Lee is always looking for simple ways to keep her home fresh for guests. Sandra lee is featured in a variety of online videos showing entertainers across the country how to plan for unexpected guests in their home. The videos can be viewed on Febreze.com or at Youtube.

Cheap Southern Home cereal this week at Bi-Lo 9/22 - 9/28 Pin It

The Southern Home brand of Raisin Bran and Honey and Oats are on sale for $1.79 this week.

000_1656[1]

Last week or week before last, they had a demonstrator in the store with samples of the cereal and coupons the lady was handing out that was good on the Southern Home cereals.

On that sheet of 4 coupons were a $1.10 coupon on each of those two mentioned cereals, thus making them .69 a box this week.

(I didn't notice if the tag had a longer sale date on it or if it was just running this week so I just put this week's sale date.)

Whew what a ride! Pin It

It’s been a crazy last few days on the homefront.  Never a dull moment around here!  If it’s not the children, it’s me doing something.

I decided to use Color Oops on my hair to get rid of a horrible jet black dye job that was supposed to be a dark brown (according to that box) that I did about 2 months ago (that’s a story in itself as to why I even colored it then).  I used the color oops as directed and it worked great!   Two or Three days later though it was a little darker (almost black again). I remember the paper in the box said you could use another application of the color oops…. so I did.

WRONG MOVE JELLYBEAN!

Although it did remove the dark from my hair this time, it gave me a present… in the form of an allergic reaction complete with hives, swelling and blisters. Woohoo! NOT!

I am broke out with hives down the right side of my face, all over my neck and shoulders along with swelling on my right side of my face at my eye and my forehead area above my right eye, my neck is swollen, and some lymph nodes at the base of my skull are swollen.

At one point it felt as if my throat was tightening up and my tongue felt like it was swelling. I woke up about 4 am with my head itching horribly. I go to rub my head and I ended up with my hair becoming soaked from where I apparently burst the blisters that were on my scalp.

100_8524

(the back of my neck 11 hours after getting the shot… I can only imagine what it looked like at 4 am this morning)

So off to the dr. I went where I ended up with a steroid shot  in the right hip and two prescriptions.  I was so afraid they were going to tell me I need to cut my hair to let my scalp heal.  She did tell me though that if I decided to color my hair again, my body probably would react with another allergic reaction now.

Oh the things we do for the sake of vanity.

Moral of the story:  I am not dying my hair EVER AGAIN!    Gray hair (or rather salt and pepper hair) it will be for me from now on.

Clean Laundry – Is there really such a thing? Pin It

Well that is sometimes an understatement in this household what with six children still at home age 11 and under.

100_8520

But what really gets my goat is the fact that I can have the laundry caught up (or so I think) and turn around and find yet another basket of dirty laundry staring at me.  Where did that come from anyway?! It breeds I tell ya!

But what really can get me irritated is to discover that basket of clean and folded laundry that the two older boys were told to put away is now strewn across the floor in their bedroom and piled in a heap near the hallway hamper mixed in with smelly, stinky socks and underwear and who knows what else.  Yes that was the scene in that greeted me this morning. That and the smell of Axe body spray in the air… or should I say taking place of the air. That last thing was courtesy of the 5 year old. He got hold of his oldest brother’s spray.  I won’t even tell you about the hallway bathroom. It’s not a pretty picture.

Oh the joys of motherhood and boys.

Rite Aid – A good week for deals! Ends 9/18/10 Pin It

First of all, you need to get a Rite Aid Wellness Card if you don’t already have one!  This card entitles you to the sale prices and also results in a 3 tiered percentage savings once you reach those levels (look in your store for details) and of course when you buy certain items, you get what is called UP+ Rewards that is like cash off your next shopping trip (order).

So what did I buy this week, you ask?

Well…

100_8510

I did 5 separate orders so I could use the $5/$25 coupons I had (you can earn 2 by watching the videos for RiteAid Video Values along with a $4/$20 coupon) and print 2 from the redplum.com site (as it just reset today).

I received UP+ rewards that I could use on the higher priced orders as I did those last so I’d not have to pay so much out of pocket. I received these rewards:

  • (1) $2 UP+ for buying 2 Nivea men’s Body wash
  • (2) $2 UP+ for buying the 4 Nivea Lip balms
  • (2) $3 UP+ for buying the Playtex
  • (1) $5 UP+ for buying $15 in Garnier Products
  • (2) $2 UP+ for buying the 2 Reach Toothbrushes
  • (1) $3 UP+ for buying the 2 Mega Red
  • (1) $1 UP+ for buying Maybelline Mascara
  • (seems like I’m forgetting a couple)

Total paid:

  • .08 on a Rite Aid Gift card
  • Total oop (out of pocket) $5.56  (so $5.64 with the g.c.)
  • and I still have a $3 and a $2 UP+ left for another day… almost like paying .64 for all that stuff.

I posted about getting really cheap pasta the other day and a commentor on my blog (Thanks Nancy M) let me know that there was a $2/5 coupon on the Mueller's website.

So here’s how to get realllly cheap Mueller’s Pasta…
    100_8327

Bi-Lo has a E-Pic deal on the Mueller's Pasta (blue and white box according to the hangtag) for wyb 3 boxes you get a $1 instantly off at the register.
There is a $2/5 boxes coupon available on the Mueller's website (you will either have to sign up or log in to get the coupon).

Here's the best deal I came up with:

15 boxes of Mueller's (I mixed and matched the spaghetti and elbow mac that are .79 a box)
    - (3) $2/5 Mueller's pasta coupons (it comes up and asks how many you want to print)
    - $5 off instantly ($1 per every 3 you buy)
    = .85 + tax  for 15 boxes

    30 boxes would be $1.70+tax (you'd need 6 of the $2/5 coupons)

Don't forget for those of you who signed up for the recipe booklet back earlier this year (or was it last fall), there's also a .55/2 coupon in there that is good only for this month.

So you could make money on 15 boxes or only pay .60 + tax for 30 of them if you used that coupon.
