Many may call that eating locally but you can’t get any more local than buying produce from little farm stands along side the roads. These little farms stands are usually family run stands that offer up excess veggies, etc. that the family grew too much of… some grow excess to actually sell at these little stands to make a little extra money.
Either way… you’ll be supporting a local gardener or small farmer while saving a little money too.
Here’s an example of what we bought for just a few dollars whereas in a store it would cost much more than the $5.00 that we paid.
The big bundle of onions was only a $1.00 while the bunch of squash and bunch of zucchini were $2.00 a basket.
Also if you love eggs as we do, watch for local signs that say “Eggs for Sale” or something along those lines. Now we have chickens and used to sale excess eggs, but our 9 remaining hens are not doing so great at laying right now, so I’m having to buy eggs. With us making the decision to go more organic and natural we wanted to buy organic eggs or farm eggs. So after buy one dozen in the store at almost $3.00 (with a coupon), I had to find another source. And I did! An older couple a few miles out the road past our home sells eggs. I had always seen their nice little wooden sign up but had never stopped for eggs because we had laying hens. So the other day I drove out there and I bought two dozen eggs for $1.50 each! WOOHOO!!
Aren't they pretty?

That's awesome! I'm so happy that our local Farmer's Market is open, they're just as close to my house as the grocery store and fresher!
