Today My Son Turns 8!

Today is my son, Jakob's 8th birthday. My how time flies.  Seems like only last week he was a newborn.

DD#1 made his cake while I ran to the post office really quick to mail some things out to winners and to pick up a couple of things at the store.

Here's the cake she made using the MEGA-CONSTRUCTION SITE Cake Kit from Cakes By Me.  I won the kit from Grocery Mama.

Needless to say it doesn't look like the picture on the site but it's still fun and Jakob absolutely love it.

He had a great birthday with just the immediate family. The children are allowed to have a party with guests on their 10th, 15th, and 18th birthdays. "The Big Birthdays" as we call them.  It just helps to keep things simple and not out of hand with presents etc.

Here's the birthday boy having just blown out his #8 candle.

And look at the haul of presents this boy got... (never mind the green icing on his chin... lol)

He received a sketch book and a pack of coloring pencils, a new Bible cover, a ball (specifically requested it to be blue... lol), two construction related toys, a book light, and a set of tub crayons and sponges.

He was tickled to say the least.

Happy Birthday Jakob!!

  2. The cake looks perfect to me. I could have NEVER pulled that off. Kudos to DD#1 for a great job.

Happy Happy Happy birthday to your baby boy! He is so cute and looks like he made out swell with all the grand birthday presents.

    Very cool.

Enjoy. They grow up so fast before long you'll be attending his college graduation crying in a kleenex ;)
