T.J. Maxx Launches Initiative to Benefit Save the Children's
United States Literacy Program

FRAMINGHAM, MA (August 2008) - As children across the country prepare to go back to school, national off-price retailer, T.J. Maxx will again partner with Save the Children to help children in need succeed academically. From August 14th through September 12th, T.J. Maxx will give away special edition bookmarks, featuring Save the Children artwork, to every customer. The bookmarks invite anyone to log on to www.oneforchange.com to play The Great Book Adventure game, which in turn will generate a book donation to benefit children living in rural poverty here in the United States. T.J. Maxx will donate up to 10,000 books to the non-profit's programs that build literacy skills and make lasting change in the lives of children. Each person who visits the site and plays will also be entered to win a $1,000 T.J. Maxx shopping spree.

"T.J. Maxx is one of our most valued corporate partners, supporting Save the Children's work with U.S. children for nearly 25 years," said Mark Shriver, Vice President and Managing Director of Save the Children's US Programs. "One in five children in rural America lives in poverty, and lacks the basic literacy skills needed to succeed in life. T.J. Maxx is helping us to make lasting, positive change in the lives of these children."

T.J. Maxx has been a proud sponsor of Save the Children since 1984, providing program support as well as clothing to help the more than 2.6 children living in rural poverty in this country. To date, T.J. Maxx and its customers have raised over $11.5 million to support Save the Children's early childhood development, literacy, and nutrition and physical activity programs, which operate in poor, rural communities across the country.

"T.J. Maxx is pleased to give back to these deserving children through a program we can see working," said Sonya Cosentini, T.J. Maxx Spokesperson. "We are privileged to support an organization such as Save the Children in its efforts to help children learn to read."
