I recently purchased a Jenny Lind style high chair at a yard sale for $2. It was just missing a screw from a slide bracket on the tray and was in desperate need of some tender loving care. I scrubbed it up with some Murphy's Oil Soap we had on hand and put a new screw in the bracket.
Well just a few days ago, the seat split so now dh is going to have to take some wood glue and see if he can fix it.
This is the 4th high chair we have gone through in about 10 years I guess.. thinking back to when our 9 year old son was a baby. He turns 10 in November.
I just learned of a highchair called the Stokke Tripp Trapp which is touted that it can support up to 300 pounds! WOW! My children don't wear anywhere near that, but I know that there are some disabled adults and children who are cared for that require a highchair or booster type chair to feed them, etc. Although I'm not wild about the design or the price of this chair, I can see where a chair of this nature could really benefit the disabled. I'm concerned though about the "escape" factor with this chair when it comes to wiggly children though and those straps I see hanging in the photo. The price surprised me a little as well.
Needless to say, I won't be getting one of these anytime soon.
Anyone got a bottle of wood glue handy?
