ClosetsGuru.com is a great tool for busy parents that are looking to save time by keeping all the kids’ sporting goods, clothes, toys, etc. organized.

The website includes tips for organizing. A photo gallery gives readers a visual representation of the tips and tricks the professionals outline on the website.

In addition to the professional advice that ClosetsGuru.com has to offer, the website provides a comprehensive database of local organizational professionals – searchable by location or category – with contact information and distance from the customer included.

For customers who are looking for a professional but already know the details of their projects, the "Submit a Project" option allows users to provide some information about themselves and their projects. Up to five local professionals can then bid on the customer's project.

The site sent me over a few back-to-school organization tips as well that they thought would be beneficial to my busy household and possibly yours as well:

  • Clothing sizes and style preferences are always changing for school-age children, even those who are college-bound. Back-to-school organization should start with a quick wardrobe check to see what still fits and what’s still “cool.” If something doesn’t work on either count, put it in the “donate” or “hand-me-down” pile. Good organization always starts with eliminating unnecessary items.
  • College-bound students usually have a very limited amount of storage space and should use all that is available wisely. One good idea is to check whether the dorm bed will allow for storage underneath and, if so, find out the amount of space available (remember to get the height measurement from the floor to the bottom of the bed rail). Then purchase suitable storage bins that can slide underneath (make sure they are not too tall to fit) for storing non-seasonal clothing items, sports equipment, winter boots, summer sandals, etc. Save precious closet and drawer space only for what is being used everyday.
  • Don’t forget to “look up” and utilize all vertical space, too. Use plastic storage bins, stacked to the ceiling on available shelves, to store items used less often. If the closet rod is high enough, you can purchase and install a second rod below to creating “double-hang” space to accommodate shirts, jackets, skirts, pants hung folded, almost anything except long dresses and skirts.
  • Avoid the temptation to “super-size” and buy a year’s supply of items like shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc. It is not worth sacrificing shelf space for gallon-size jugs in order to save a few cents. Ditto the years’ supply of granola bars and peanut butter crackers. Having excess quantities just encourages wastefulness, anyway.
  • Smaller, still-at-home children don’t have as much of a challenge keeping their clothes arranged as their older away-from-home siblings. It’s their school supplies, homework assignments, books, notepads, gym clothes, etc., that are hard to keep organized. One way to cope is to keep a large, open plastic container next to the back door; get your child into the habit of dropping his or her backpack, books and loose items in there the moment they walk through the door in the afternoon (hanging up their coats afterwards, of course!) As items are removed and used during the evening, they also get thrown back into the bin when finished. The bin itself may be a jumbled mess. But at least everything will be in one spot for packing up in the morning — easier than looking all over the house at the last minute for a missing book or hat. And for multiple children — multiple bins in different colors.

Get Your Home Organized with ClosetsGuru.com

Website Offers Professional Advice and Resources for Organizing Closets, Laundry Rooms, Home Offices, Garages, and Other Rooms of the Home

LINCOLNSHIRE, IL – Studies have shown that organized people earn more and are more likely to score job promotions, while their children perform better in school and earn higher paychecks as adults. Getting organized and staying organized are both an art and a science, but the tips and tools individuals and families need to do so aren’t always easy to find.

ClosetsGuru.com, a website created by Vance Publishing Corp., was recently launched to provide such advice and resources to help individuals conquer their disorganization. Whether customers wish to find information about how professionals clear the clutter or need help contacting a local professional directly, ClosetsGuru.com provides everything that’s needed to get a project started.

“Existing organization blogs and websites only provide a little information at best, making it difficult to gain a complete view of what you need to get the job done,” remarked Helen Kuhl, Editorial Director of CLOSETS magazine at Vance Publishing. “ClosetsGuru.com is meant to be a one-stop shop, offering a comprehensive database of knowledge for individuals who want to organize anything from a messy bedroom closet to a cluttered garage.”

The website includes tips for organizing master, kid, guest and teen bedroom closets; mud, craft and play rooms; home offices; garages; foyer closets; pantries; laundry and other rooms, plus general information to help get visitors’ projects started. A photo gallery provides a visual representation of the tips and tricks the professionals outline on the website, as well as inspiring ideas for every project.

In addition to the useful information that ClosetsGuru.com has to offer, the website provides a comprehensive database of local organizational professionals – searchable by location or category – with contact information and distance from the customer included. For customers who are looking for a professional and already know the details of their projects, the “Submit a Project” option allows users to provide some information about themselves and their projects. Up to five local professionals can then bid to respond to the customer regarding the project. On the business side, these capabilities provide professionals with membership options that can help develop lead generation.

ClosetsGuru.com will be represented at the Closets and Home Organization Conference and Expo, held in Schaumburg, IL, in March 2009. The conference is sponsored by CLOSETS Magazine.
