This book caught me off guard a little. I wasn't prepared for a novel talking about two separate countries within the US and with one being deemed as Appalachia... I grew up not far from part of the Appalachia trail and now live not from the Cumberland Gap (both of which are mentioned in the book). Kind of creepy when you think about the area and how it's portrayed in the book.
I'll admit that fantasy / fiction books are not my first choice when I go to the bookstore or library, but ever so often, I will find a book that piques my interest with it's title or the back of the book jacket. This one had me with the title .
This book has a lot of twists and turns and I was confused. What I thought I had figured out as to who Caitlin was, she actually turned out to be totally different through. Surprising that's for sure and I wasn't expecting it.
There are other twists and turns in the book that keep your interest and makes you want to know what's going to happen next.
Overall, it's a good book but I wouldn't put it down as a quick read as you'll need your bearings to keep track of everything. Rushing through it will not work for this one. So settle back with a cup of tea and enjoy!
Don't blame me if you can't put the book down once you start reading it.
