As a family who is trying to "go green" this book came at an opportune time for me to review it.

The author gives you eco-friendly tips without sounding condescending because you're not "fully green" or on a certain level of "green".  She relates stories of her family's journey to give you suggestions, tips, and ideas on making your home "green" and becoming eco-friendly from the ground up instead of trying to make you start at the second rung from the top of the ladder so to speak.  Also included are recipes for such things as "mop tea" which is a solution to mop your floors with; a recipe for applesauce, trail treats and more.

Throughout the book, she gives you "down to earth" ideas how to not only "go green" but to also get your immediate family members on board with reducing, reusing, and recycling.

I suggest you have a pen and a hi-liter on hand as you're going to need them. I've highlighted so many pages in this book to refer back to and made notes in the back of the book for quick reference. You'll find ideas that you may want to hi-lite and refer back to as well as so keep that pen handy to make notes in the margin and the hi-liter to mark those important to you parts.

Overall, this is a book that you will want to keep on your bookshelf for reference as well as to gleam ideas from.

About the Book:

In her new book, Eco-Friendly Families author Helen Coronato helps readers make eco-conscious decisions, teaching children the world is their extended family. What they do and how they treat the earth effects the world as a whole.

New isn't necessary! Easier on the wallet and the environment, Coronato puts the emphasis on new and fun ideas such as:

-    "Have on Hand Policeman" – children patrol their homes for school supplies
-    Crayon cupcakes
-    Egg carton eco-ideas
-    Back-to-school teacher gifts

Eco-Friendly Families is a parent's perfect guide to raising a family with "green" values.
