Author: Nancy Bruno

Publisher: Bridgeway Books (January 2008)

ISBN-10: 1933538880

ISBN-13: 978-1933538884

The author did an excellent job of interviewing the women in this book along with the young girls.  She captured them in black and white portraits that did an outstanding job of portraying their bio or "mini story".

Each one of them is inspiring and poignant as well as uplifting.  Today's youth definitely need more role models who make a positive impact in today's society.

In the Beautiful Women book, you'll "meet" Betty who once did top-secret work for the United States Army.  You'll get to know more about her "Always A Marine" husband, Jim, in the Genuine Men book.  What a remarkable couple they seem to be!

This book is a great read not only for today's young girls but for women of all ages.

About the Book & Author:

As a mother of two young boys, award-winning photographer and author Nancy Bruno is spearheading a movement to address the need for positive role models in today's society. Using photography as her medium, Bruno developed two community art projects that celebrate the lives of everyday men and women living across the country who serve as mentors, leaders and heroes to younger generations.

In 2006, Bruno launched a touring photo-documentary exhibition called The Beautiful Women Project to challenge the traditional "standard" of beauty by examining the lives of 35 everyday women. She recently expanded her platform with The Genuine Men Project. Similar to its "sister" project, Genuine Men includes a photography exhibition and book, "Genuine Men: Journeys in Stories and Stills," which features candid black-and-white photographs and life-defining stories of 35 men who define what it means to be a man of strength and character.
