I have had the flu so I am behind on getting book reviews and other reviews posted. Please be patient with me as I get caught up on all those as well as get caught up on emails.

You will see many posts in one day until I get caught back up so I apologize in advance for overloading your feed reader.

Thank you for understanding.

BOOK REVIEW: My Name is Not Isabella

My Name is Not Isabella

Author: Jennifer Fosberry (pictures by Mike Litwin)

Reading level: Ages 4-8

Publisher: Monkey Barrel Press (September 9, 2008)

ISBN-10: 0980200075

ISBN-13: 978-0980200072

What a fun little book that teaches while entertaining.

Meet little Isabella who likes to pretend she is someone else. Oh not just any ol' ordinary someone else. No. She likes to imagine she is a woman who made history.  Women like Sally Ride, Annie Oakley, Rosa Parks, Marie Curie, Elizabeth Blackwell, and even her mother.  Yes, her moth is making history... a history of love for her daughter.

A fun little story that is not only a quick read, but also gives the youngsters a little bit of history thrown in. In the back of the book is a brief bio of the women who are portrayed in the book.

I can definitely see this book as a launching pad in a homeschool setting. Take off on studying about astronauts, the wild wild west, the Civil Rights Movements, and more.  Many possibilities.

I think little girls will be more drawn to this book but boys would enjoy it too.  I hope the author decides to do a boy theme one as well.  What fun!

About the Book

From breakfast to bedtime, a young girl imagines being different women who made history, and ends the day empowered to be herself.
