Our Day (homeschool and all)

I've had a few people ask me about what our daily schedule looks like and how we do chores.

The key to our homeschool day or regular day is organization and having a schedule.... without these, our house doesn't run very smoothly.

I have to have a schedule for us as it just works out better.  While the little ones are doing their schoolwork, oldest dd is working on her chores for the week or I am nearby working on something as they do a subject that doesn't required a lot of assistance.

This is  our schedule from August to May.  For June and July, we still do school but its more hands on learning as we work in the garden... which usually gets planted in late April or early May and harvesting usually is over by September, if we have a late growing season.  I can during this time and the children enjoy picking wild berries for me to wash & freeze, although I think they eat more than they pick at times.

Homeschooling More Than One doesn't have to be overwhelming.

We have three bedrooms which means, Dh and I have our room, the boys have one room and the girls have one room.  There are also three bathrooms... two of which are in service. The boys lost the privilege of having their own bathroom so it's locked and they must use the hall bathroom which is also mainly the girls' bathroom. This is to ensure that the bathroom stays clean as they were not keeping their bathroom picked up nor would they flush... disgusting.

So since the bedrooms are set up this way, it makes it easier to do laundry in a schedule that a good friend of mine suggested instead of on one day as I was desperately trying to do and keep up with.

Laundry Schedule

Monday - Mom's & Dad's hamper

Tuesday - Boys' hamper

Wednesday - Girls' hamper

Thursday - Mom's & Dad's hamper

Friday - Boys' and Girls' hampers

Saturday - household (cleaning rags, kitchen towels & dish cloths, etc. that may have not gotten put into the wash on another day, everyone's sheets)

Sunday - No laundry
