Barbecue Sauce

Barbecue Sauce

1 cup ketchup
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 6-ounce can of tomato paste
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup soy sauce
salt to taste
pepper to taste
1-1/2 tsp hot sauce
1 med. onion chopped (or you can use 2 TBSP of onion powder)
2 cloves garlic, minced ( or you can use 2 TBSP garlic powder)
2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp dry mustard (you can use 1 TBSP of regular prepare mustard if you don't have the dry)

Mix all together and heat to blend the flavors. Be sure to stir constantly so as not to let it stick and burn.

Ladle into jars and seal. Water bath can at a rolling boil for 20 minutes.

I have no idea how many pints jars one batch will make as I always make many more batches at one time.

Thanks for sharing this. We have a few bottles of store-bought stuff in the pantry to use up, but I'd like to make our own sauce since I think it would be cheaper than buying organic. My main concern is to avoid the high fructose corn syrup.
