REVIEW: Komodo Dragon Ebook by Melissa Markham

I recently entered the contest that Melissa Markham at Yesterday's Hopes: The Blog was having in which one of the prizes was the Komodo Dragon Ebook. I didn't win, but Melissa contacted me shortly after the close of the contest to send me a copy of the Ebook and ask that I review it.

Ok, now if you're like me and you hear the word dragon, you think of this HUGE, scaly, fire-breathing monster that can fly. (Yes, I've been reading to many medieval books). Melissa did a wonderful job on squelching that theory when it comes to the Komodo Dragon as she takes you through the life of this reptile.

I learned so many new things from reading this Ebook and I can see great potential in using it as a basis for a unit study for our homeschool. I have a feeling my boys would love learning about a reptile that has a huge monster's name.

One of the things I learned is that a Komodo Dragon lives mostly in trees for 3 years. Could you imagine living in a tree house that long?

There are lots more interesting facts and details about Komodo Dragon in this Ebook. This is a wonderful non-fiction book. I would encourage you to purchase same and learn more about this magnificent creature... alone or with your child. It would make your next trip to the zoo even more interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed the ebook. I can't wait to print it out and put it in a folder so the boys can read it too. I read a couple of parts to them and it peaked their interests.

Already I have visions of unit studies and a lapbook dancing around in my head. I look forward to more informative books such as this from her. I understand that she has one in the works on the Ruby-Throated Hummingbird.

If you would like to purchase a copy of this Komodo Dragon Ebook, please see her blog for details.

It's perfect to use if you want your child to make a lapbook or use when doing a mini unit study on komodo dragons.

My kids have gone through reptile phases where they checked out every book they could get their hands on. Whales, dinosaurs, sharks, horses, lots of phases.

LOL I know the feeling. Mine are on a bird kick right now. Hence why we are doing a unit study on birds currently.

Thanks for the review, Laura:) I am glad you found the book interesting and informative and I hope the kids do too:)

My children also go through spells. The last time we were at the library my daughter picked up five or six books on different bears and my son borrowed several books on disasters (tornadoes, Challenge, Three Mile Island, the plague...)

I am learning all the time!
